Design your own companion in the studio.

Say you want to chat with a retired lighthouse keeper in Stockholm who hates boats and has a lot to say about fog. Discover probably doesn't have one. So you make him.

The studio walks you through it one step at a time. You start with the basics: a first name, an age, where they live, what they do. Then the personality, which is where you decide whether he's gruff or a secret softie. Then his life story, the part companions draw on when they tell you about their week. Then looks and photos. Then Finalize.

At every step you can let Itclickt generate it or write it yourself, or do a bit of each. You can generate a life story, keep the half you like and rewrite the rest, which is how we tend to do it. The generated version usually has one detail we'd never have thought of and one we'd never have allowed. Photos are made by Google's Gemini image model and the text by Anthropic's Claude models, so your lighthouse keeper's face is invented and isn't based on anyone real. Nor is anything else about him.

Your studio companions are private to you. They don't turn up on anyone else's Discover, and nobody else can chat with them.

Once finalized, they chat like any other companion: short messages, a few in a row, opinions of their own, and they remember what you told them. You gave him opinions on fog. Expect to hear them.

Here's what each plan allows:

• Free: 5 creations to start, 4 photos per studio companion
• Plus: 3 creations a month, 6 photos per companion
• Premium: 6 creations a month, 6 photos per companion, and you can keep editing a companion after you finalize it

On Free and Plus, Finalize means finished, so read it through before you press it. If you run out of creations there are packs of extra ones. Paid plans and packs aren't live yet and nothing is charged today; the prices on the pricing page are there so you know what's coming.

One small honesty. The more you leave to generate, the more your companion will surprise you, and not always in the direction you planned. Ask for a baker and you might get one who can't stand bread. We think that's part of the fun.
